Are You Paying Attention???

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;

ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION?

LESSONS can always be learned. It’s amazing what we’re all witnessing right now. Beyond the minutia of virus science, I’m seeing a couple of lessons from God emerge: (1) leisure activities are sneaky and can easily become a false idol in our life. With them being suddenly withdrawn and more quiet time at home is emerging, it makes me wonder just how much we elevate the entertainment pursuits in our lives; (2) God was serious about the “love your neighbor” command. Right smack in the middle of the nasty political hatred has emerged a kind of “time out” from our Father, who I think expects us to be kind and polite to one another, despite our differences. I can almost see him cooling us down and sending us to our rooms so we can then (hopefully emerge) more focused on Him than on our trivial pursuits and overly strong political hatred towards one another. After all, God identifies with us as a Father.

For an old nerd like me, I’m having more time to finish my latest book on animals. I believe we should work harder on getting along than not getting along. Kindness is what’s missing today, not love. Love is something completely different. I suggest using this “time out” well and stay balanced in enjoying life’s blessings, but also loving the Lord and loving our neighbor.

Have a great week!
